Faced with the deep spiritual struggles of her son, Augustine—who would later become one of the greatest saints and theologians of the Church—Monica never lost hope. For years, she prayed with quiet strength and tearful determination, enduring hardship, rejection, and uncertainty, all the while trusting in God's perfect timing.
Her endurance was not passive. It was active. It was rooted in a fierce love and a resilient faith that refused to give up. Through every disappointment, she clung to prayer. Through every delay, she clung to hope. And through every challenge, she clung to God.
